Default New rail, 10 clamp job.

I wanted a handrail on the deck stairs, for safety reasons only...
I just wanted it on the right side, as most people are right handed.

It was a 10 clamp job, Jacko would approve, although he's probably
would have used 12 clamps.

It's pressure treated so we have to wait awhile, before staining it.
as with everything we do, we winged it and modified it as he went along.

here it is completed. The deck stairs are 6 feet wide, I'm not sure if it looks
only half finished having a rail on only one side? The reason
I don't want it on the other side, is because it would obstruct the view of the pond from the main dining table...

Good job. I like it.

Ya know, you would think that someone would come up with a way to do a job like that with only 2 clamps.

I'm going to let the comments stand but I'm also going to add this clarification:

zig is a respected member of this board, he provides good, honest contributions to threads on many topics, not just on the subject of clamps and clamping techniques. He walks the fine line between appropriately discussing his products and outright advertising with humor and grace, the above post is a classic example and I have no issues what so ever with posts of this nature. What I don't want is to see the kind of anti vendor, anti business, heavily biased by favoritism reactions that we've all seen at other forums.

I'll be happy to discuss this topic further if any of you want to pursue a discussion. I'd recommend that we do so in a different thread and stop cluttering up actual wood working discussions with Off Topic content.

oh yeah...

Sorry Joann, at first i was thinking that since most folks are right handed, then putting the rail on the left side would be better since carrying spillable items is best done using your dominant hand. But then you sold me when you mentioned the other rail would block a view of the pond.

Can't have that.

Good choice and nice rail.

"Ah! Perry the Platypus! How nice of you to drop in. Would you care to watch as I demonstrate my new Rag Dry-inator-ator?"

I love that show Greg. Its a shame that I cut our cable though. That extra hunnerd a month is going to bigger and better, more family orientated activities, though, so I don't feel too bad. My son as learned to cope with it, and spends more time reading and playing outside. The missus and I are more active outdoors also: bike riding, jogging, etc.
