Default Tigerhead fiddle repair

Well I finely got around to the fiddle today.

This is the fiddle that I have to make a new top plate for.

The problem was that the fiddle would not stay in tune for more then 5 min.

The top (Belly) was made from western red cedar. I have determined that the strength of the wood was not good enough for the Hardanger style fiddle.

Today I removed the top and confirmed my thoughts.

In prepairing the new top I used Engelmann spruce with 27 rings per inch.

I have the basic shape cut, but found a flaw on the inside as I flattened the plate. Hopefully I will be able to carve out the stick that seems to have grown in the middle of the lower bout.
