Default HF 2HP 5 micron DC

I have a coupon to get the 2HP dust collector for $139, normally $250. It'll be used for my turning room, replacing the 1/2HP Jet that I now use.

The Jet has performed okay, but doesn't get some of the larger pieces and ribbons of acrylic, so there's always some cleanup to do.

Anyone with any experience with the HF DC? Is it a real 2HP? 1600 CFM? How loud?

I'd replace the bag with something finer.

Harbor Freight Dust Collector?

HFDC?

Seems I've heard the term before...

My Psi puts out 61db according to their spec sheet , but when I fire up the table saw or router table I do not hear it.

I called HF, the specs say it is 83 db. That's pretty loud. Since I am mostly going to use this with my lathe, I'd prefer to have a quiet DC. Of course, it will be in the other room and I can add some buffers to reduce it further.

It's gotta be better than my little Jet 1/2HP DC, but not as good as my Delta 50-850 1 1/2HP, I'm guessing

Sometimes I wonder what I should do with my old boots.

That is loud, if and when I add the new room I plan on putting mine on the other side of the wall from where it is now just need to extend the pipe about 3 feet more.

If you add a canister filter it will greatly reduce the noise and as a added bonus you increase the suction and decrease fine dust.

Do you know the diameter of the top hoop?

I've only had mine for a little over a year, but I have only had to turn the outside handle which turns the internal flaps. I do that about twice a week. I have had no issues with dust caking up inside.
