Spray laquer, but then again I'm not very sophisticated about finishing.

Neat.

Do all the empty spaces catch the gouges?

Box if I use spray I have to get on the sides of each piece to. Seems like that would be APITA but finishing is not my strong suit.

No Sharon the only way you notice the open spaces is when you take to heavy of a cut and the whole thing flex's and vibrates.I had to change my underwear a couple of times because of that.

I think it'd be easier spraying than applying finish to all those surfaces by hand

Beautiful vessel though!

Awesome!

Chit, wish I knew how to do that.............

Anyway - what about a simple oil, like BLO? With some paste wax?
Or a light cut blonde shellac?

Well, depending on how big it is you might could dip it, I've seen really good results on gun stocks and the like.

It's about 11"x11". I was thinking an oil would be easiest. Since I'm finishing challenged heres the next question. Would sanding past 220 help pop the grain? With the power sander and the lathe it only takes about a minute per grit and I can run it up to 800.This will be first piece with an oil finish so I'm really not sure.
Thanks for the help.
