Default New Oil and Vinegar Cabinet -

Remember the church kneelers we picked up from our son's church?
This is the latest project we made from the holy wood, or is it holy?
Maybe I should get some holy water to bless the cabinet just in case more
sinners kneeled here than saints.

This is the box. The head guy used formica on the shelves.
It's 8" deep x 15" wide. The top is made out of four pieces.
Some of the wood is rift sawn, some of it is quarter sawn,
and some is flat sawn.
In any case it's red oak, the other
cabs are white oak. I got a good match mixing English chestnut,
Pecan, and cherry stain.
The finish is gloss varnish cut with terp, and wiped with a denim
rag. In between coats, I sanded with the sanding sponges.

The third coat on the door, is drying downstairs and will be installed
tomorrow.

Stay tuned, more pic's tomorrow after the door is installed.

Thanks Steve and Towmater,
Here are the completer pic's, the left side of the new cab
needs to be shimmed up a bit as the floor is slightly unlevel.

The head guy is going to run all new oak molding for the floor.
It's going to be higher than the existing molding.
The pieces we have are 5 1/2 inches. (that's the height
of the top of the kneelers) What he cuts off he'll
use as a shoe.
Any suggestions on what edge to use is appreciated -- cove, ogee,
chamfer?

Correction, I meant to say I used poly cut with terp for the
final finish, so far I have applied three coats. I probably give the top
another coat in a few days.

This is an old pic of just the TV cabinet and the
floor cabinet under it -- which was originally a cookbook
cabinet, until we added the cookbook shelf and then
the spice cabinet and then the oil and vinegar cabinet.
I know, the cabinets that Jack built!

...there is only one more cabinet to make on the other
side, I struggling with the design, as soon as it's finalized
we'll start that one.
