Default I WILL GLADLY PAY DEARLY

for a bleeding simple UNIX Mail Transfer Agent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Gawd - sendmail, postfix and all of the other unix inspired wannabes are a bloody pox on this earth.

I sooooooooooooooo hate trying to figure out how to get my box to send mail again, after switching to comcast.

Last time - I flat out paid someone a 12 pack for their "sendmail.cf" file to earthlink where I could just plug in my user name and password.

It's a talent, what can I say...

Try Webmin as a useful web based configurator..it provides enough rudimentary documentation on each module to walk the casual user through guessing the right choices...

What, pray tell, are you trying to do? I'll help ya.

BTW, comcast frequently blocks port 25, so if it sent before the change and now it don't, with no other changes....

Just get the box to SEND mail outbound.

Thot it was purdy simple.

relayhost = smtp.comcast.net
find the spot in "transports" to set it to port 587.
do the SSL Auth thang - to set user name and password.

---
I was following some simple Innernet instructions and they told me to edit "transports". I didn't have that - only "main.cf".

I've had my butt kicked by Sendmail soooooooo many times I was skeert to put that in main.cf.

I since re-found my t*sticl*s and plan to retry it today.
---

What's really pissin me off about Ubuntu is that I let it NOT create me a root, so every farkin command I do has to have "sudo" in front of it.

Total PITA.
My fault but still.......................

Transport Map is a section in the main.cf It has no setting by default but does direct you to a document for more info.
