Default Next 2 drivers blanks

Jim's diamond pattern driver inspired me to try some similiar.

Walnut blank drilled with 1/8" holes at an angle to the blank. Inserts are 1/8" dunno dowel stock.
Have a couple of holes that are not in line. Bit walk I guess.
If it doesn't work, it will be kindling.

Next is some of that scrub oak burl I found in the woods.
Seems fairly dry so I'm going for it.

Scrub oak is looking fine. A little water to see it better.

One thing I did different a few blanks back, was to hang the brass ring on the inserted dowel when turning the tenon. Sure beats taking the blank out 42 times to check the ring fit. Surprisingly the ring just sits there and doesn't spin.

Scrub oak burl is not going to give up easily.
Have a defect I was hoping would disappear.
I think it will if I turn it down even with the brass ring, back about a quarter inch.

And I have sharpened 3 tools 3 times just to get this far.
It takes the edge right off real quick.

Super glue and chips took care of the defect by the brass ring.
